Dr. Xuemei Zhong never imagined becoming a Health and Wellness Coach. The medical school professor loved teaching and guiding her students toward finding their individual purposes. But, after losing both her father and mentor to cancer, Dr. Zhong felt enormous stress teaching, doing immuno-oncology research for work, and raising a young family through her grief.
Then, the internet led her down a rabbit hole of information about holistic healthcare and wellness coaching. Her curiosity was piqued.
Not one to jump into something without doing her homework, Dr. Zhong took time to learn about this new-to-her community of professionals in the Health and Wellness world, asking about their educational experiences, their business struggles, and what they offer to their clients. She learned what she would need for her own coaching education and Health Coach Institute had it all–including the business and marketing training other coaches admitted they lacked.
Through her studies at HCI, Dr. Zhong recognized that her love of mentoring her students had been the driving force in her career all along. Learning to apply her medical background to a new and specialized career in coaching was exactly what she needed to break out of her grief. In her efforts as a Health and Wellness Coach, Dr. Zhong has discovered that she can guide the chronically stressed and chronically ill toward improved wellness with holistic solutions that work.
Dr. Zhong chose HCI because our Become a Health Coach program includes training for the whole coach, offering health and wellness education, business skills, and beyond.
